Message site.. The pictures are of the first set we recieved and we had the compressor housings changed out to a bolt-flange housing but the cost of doing that was prohibitive. We had flanges laser-cut to bolt onto the front of the housing that comes from Garrett (which is a 3" pipe flange). When we recieved the turbos I also cringed at the finish on the compressor housing - it looked used, but it was just oxidation - probably was sitting on the shelf for a long time or Garrett didn't go through a refinishing step after the casting/machining with them. *shrug* That is how the housings came to us on the turbos.

I would like to just say one more thing about the turbos, since I do all of the development on them - these turbochargers (Stage3's; aka: disco potato) are manufactured by Garrett and shipped to us - we dont build these particular turbochargers - no ballbearing cartridge is 'buildable' or 'rebuildable' as Garrett will only sell the entire cartridge and not the parts. The problem with your turbochargers is either a manufacturing defect by the hands of Garrett, an installation issue, or something else is responsible for the smoke. I dont doubt Rich's abilities which leaves us with either the turbos or the 'something else'. Unfortunately we are at the mercy of Garrett to take a look at them and determine if the turbo is the issue and then we will find a solution. As soon as we get them back we will expedite them - godspeed.

Sorry you had issues - I assure you we are doing everything we can to get this resolved.

-Ash
